The PreFiHy Project

PreFiHy (Pre-Finished Metals Polymer Hybrid Parts) is a cooperative project, funded by the European Commission within the CORNET programme. In this project the following 4 research institutes work together:

  • IWU - Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology,
  • IPF - Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research,
  • CRM - Center of Research and Metallurgy,
  • Sirris - The Collective Center of the Belgian technological industry.

They are supported by more than 15 industrial members of the user committee situated in Belgium and Germany, most of them being SMEs. The overall aim of the project is to develop relevant technologies and process routes for the efficient manufacturing of ready to use hybrid parts with the focus on the adhesion layer between the metal and the plastic.
